A couple of questions about weapons... - Guild Wars Forums

Hi guys, I've got a couple of questions that have been bugging me for a bit and I'm pretty sure they'll be easyto answer.

First of all, if I have a sword with req. 8 which does, say, 14-21 damage, does that mean if I wield it with a swordsmanship level of 8 I'll be able to inflict 14 damage, if I wield it with lvl 12 I'll be able to inflict 21 damage, and so on?

Also, I've seen plenty of weapons for sale advertised as "max damage". What are the max damage values for the different tyoes of weapon? I've heard so many different answers to this one that I don't know which to believe!

Guildwiki is your friend, add it to your favorites.

You need to meet the requirement to do the listed damage, 14-21. Otherwise you do like 3-4. There's a bit more to it so recommend looking it up, as well as the weapon damage ranges.

Yes gwiki is your best source.
Quick max dmg chart: wand 11-22 staff 11-22 sword 15-22 axe 6-28 hammer 19-35 bow 15-28.
About req: if u don't meet it than u will do only base dmg as Dean said. If u meet it, then you'll do a % of the weapons dmg. At swordmanship 12, you do 100% of the 14-21 dmg, 5% more at 13 i think and a little less than 100% at lev 11 and so on, but check on Gwiki for the right figures.
And if u have such a sword, it's time to upgrade, everything is really cheap nowadays
